Cheese-loving dog needs a home after solo adventure. Meet the ‘adorable escape artist’
A cheese-loving dog went on an epic solo adventure — and now the “adorable escape artist” needs a home, a North Carolina shelter said.
“Kapone is the cutie who managed to slip out of his harness at the arboretum while on a walk with our volunteers,” the Asheville Humane Society wrote June 5 on Facebook. “Many people were searching for him and on the second day of his adventure, one of our amazing animal care staff members found and secured him!”
Kapone is now back at the shelter as he waits for a new owner. The shelter said Kapone’s “fun-loving nature and adorable antics would make him a great buddy for a family with teens,” but he’s not a good fit for younger kids or other pups.
Kapone first arrived at the humane society in April. Though the animal organization didn’t say how Kapone ended up in its care, the dog has become known for being “goofy, wiggly” and “loyal,” according to an online adoption profile.
“He’s an armchair naptime aficionado, a cheese connoisseur, and a soft-hearted snuggle bug,” the shelter wrote. “Most of all, he’s a young dog longing for the love and comfort of a home. Lots of things in life are new to Kapone, but he’s building his confidence day by day — especially when his human pals share some cheddar cubes.”
As of early June 6, the shelter’s website showed the 1-year-old mixed-breed dog with “silky soft” fur was still available for adoption. More details about the animal organization’s adoption process can be found at ashevillehumane.org.
The humane society, located in the popular mountain town of Asheville, didn’t immediately share additional information with McClatchy News on June 6.
