Winning $110,000 lottery ticket expires soon — but no one has claimed the NC prize
A North Carolina lottery player scored a huge windfall — but hasn’t claimed their six-figure prize yet.
Now, the winner has days to cash in before the lucky ticket expires Nov. 12, according to the N.C. Education Lottery.
“Search everywhere you keep your tickets and double-check any you have to see if you have the winning ticket,” Mark Michalko, lottery CEO, said in a Nov. 5 news release. “We hope that whomever purchased this ticket comes forward to claim their prize soon so we can celebrate their big win with them.”
Months ago, the player tried their luck on the Carolina Cash 5 game, which offers tickets starting at $1. The winner bought their ticket at a Sheetz convenience store in Dobson, a roughly 45-mile drive northwest from Winston-Salem.
The ticket matched all the numbers picked in the May 16 drawing, making it worth $110,000. The numbers picked that night were: 5-15-36-40-43, results show.
The game’s top winners have about six months to claim their prizes at the North Carolina lottery’s headquarters in Raleigh. But time is running out for the lucky Dobson player, who beat 1-in-962,598 odds to hit the jackpot.
As of 11:20 a.m. Nov. 5, no winner had come forward. The deadline cash in is 5 p.m. Nov. 12, officials wrote in their news release and told McClatchy News in an email.
