Powerball player scores big win in North Carolina. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Powerball player just missed a jackpot prize — but is still in for a windfall in North Carolina.
The player bought a ticket that matched all but one number picked in the Jan. 25 drawing, making it worth $50,000, results show.
The winning numbers: white balls 8-15-17-53-66, with red Powerball 14.
So, where was the lucky ticket sold? The winner spent $2 to buy it online while in Charlotte, an N.C. Education Lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News via email.
The ticket matched four of the white balls and the red ball to win big. It was one number from hitting the jackpot, which stood at an estimated $48 million the night of the drawing, according to the Powerball website.
As of about 8:15 a.m. Jan. 27, the lucky ticket holder hadn’t come forward. In North Carolina, Powerball winners have roughly six months to cash in on their prizes, game rules show.
