PGA Championship in Charlotte: Road closures, tickets, free transit & parking

The PGA Championship, one of four major men’s golf championships slated to take place in Charlotte this year, is just days away.

The tournament will be held at Quail Hollow Golf Club from Monday, May 12 to Sunday, May 18. It’s expected to draw more than 40,000 fans each day, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.

If you’re planning to go to the PGA Championship, here’s where to buy tickets and how to get there.

Where to buy PGA Championship tickets

Weekday and Saturday tickets are sold out, but you can buy tickets for the tournament on secondary markets such as SeatGeek.com. Prices range from about $70 to about $1,250.

All tickets to the PGA Championship are indicated as Championship + tickets, meaning they include free food and non-alcoholic beverages at on-course concession venues.

Tickets are only accessible on mobile phones, but screenshots are not valid. Kids 15 and under can get in for free with a paid adult, according to PGA media relations.

Where to park at the PGA Championship

Public parking will not be available at Quail Hollow Club during the tournament, but there will be shuttles to and from the site along with a rideshare drop-off area.

Here’s where the public parking lots will be located:

Daily Parking is available on SeatGeek for $20 per day, and complimentary shuttle service is provided to and from the Main Spectator Entrance at Quail Hollow Club.

Shuttle schedules can be found on the PGA Championship website.

Charlotte roads closed for PGA Championship

Starting Monday, Gleneagles Road between Park Road and Quail Hollow Road will only be open for ticket holders, the city of Charlotte’s website says.

Drivers should expect major traffic delays around the Quail Hollow Club on Park Road, Sharon Road, Carmel Road, and Quail Hollow Road.

Free rides to golf courses

CATS (Charlotte Area Transit System) will be offering free bus and train rides to Quail Hollow Club.

You can ride the Blue Line to Sharon Road West Station, and CATS buses will provide transportation to and from the event. All you have to do is show your digital PGA Championship ticket.

“CATS Travel Ambassadors will be on-site at the various light rail stations throughout the championship to ensure your travel experience is smooth and safe,” the CATS website says.

Download the app and find more information at charlottenc.gov/CATS.

Using rideshare to get to the PGA Championship

If you choose to use Uber or Lyft to get to the PGA Championship, you must be picked up and dropped off at the event’s Official Rideshare lot located near Quail Hollow Club.

Event officials advise spectators to enter “Quail Hollow Club” as the destination in their rideshare apps for an efficient experience. Spectators utilizing rideshare will enter and exit the tournament grounds through the Main Spectator Entrance, a short walk from the Official Rideshare lot, PGA officials said.

However, the PGA Championship warns that drivers are not guaranteed and there could be extended wait times for rideshare vehicles during peak departure hours from Quail Hollow Club.
