‘Shaky, toothless’ dog with rough past ‘deserves the world.’ He waits for a home
A “sweet” 8-pound dog with a rough past was rescued — and now, he needs a home.
“Everything is big and a bit scary when you are just a little guy,” a North Carolina animal shelter wrote Sept. 15 on Facebook. “Rescued from a cruelty case, the first seven years of Anthony’s life have not been easy. This shaky, toothless, senior lil fella deserves the world — even though the world scares him a little.”
Anthony is up for adoption after he landed at the Asheville Humane Society in mid-August. When he arrived, he had no teeth and showed off his shy nature.
“For confidentiality purposes, we cannot share any additional details about his intake,” Becca Andrews, marketing coordinator for the shelter, told McClatchy News via email. “He is 7 years old and mixed breed. He is a sweet, but quite timid dog. He can be nervous about new people and places, but is friendly with people.”
Due to his lack of teeth, Anthony is on a diet of soft foods. The shelter said he’s healthy but will have to get regular check-ups for dental care.
“He will need a calm home and little extra kindness to help him build trust again,” the shelter wrote.
As of Sept. 17, the shelter’s website still listed Anthony among the pups in need of new owners. Details about the animal organization’s adoption process can be found at ashevillehumane.org.
