Two lottery tickets hit big jackpots on back-to-back nights in North Carolina
Two lottery players hit the jackpot on back-to-back nights, making for a lucky weekend in North Carolina.
The players bought Carolina Cash 5 tickets that matched all the numbers picked in the drawings on Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20, according to the N.C. Education Lottery. Here’s where the tickets came from:
- $120,000 ticket sold at iMarket in Asheville
- $100,000 ticket sold to an online player from Wilmington
Cash 5 is a rolling jackpot game that offers tickets starting at $1. To hit the jackpot, a player’s ticket must match all five numbers picked in a drawing, rules show.
The $120,000 Asheville winner got richer in the Sept. 19 drawing, the day before the online player scored a $100,000 prize. A spokesperson has told McClatchy News the lottery can’t pinpoint where people are when they play online games. But it knows the person who bought the ticket for the Sept. 20 drawing lives in Wilmington.
Here are the winning numbers from over the weekend:
- Sept. 19 drawing: 2-19-29-32-34
- Sept. 20 drawing: 4-17-18-24-37
As of early Sept. 22, the two prizes remained unclaimed. In North Carolina, jackpot winners have about six months to come forward, lottery officials wrote on their website and in an email to McClatchy News.
