North Carolina

Here are the NC cities where you can’t watch ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ tonight

Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show is set to return Tuesday night, Sept, 23, after being pulled in response to the host’s comments amid the killing of Charlie Kirk.

However, not everyone in North Carolina will be able to watch the broadcast.

That’s because Sinclair and Nexstar — two national media companies that own more than 70 ABC affiliate television stations — have announced they will continue to preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” across their ABC affiliate stations, replacing it with “news programming.”

Last Monday, Sept. 15, Kimmel made a comment that implied Charlie Kirk’s shooter may have been part of the “MAGA gang,” which outraged FCC chairman Brendan Carr. In response, Nexstar and Sinclair announced on Wednesday, Sept. 17, that they would preempt Kimmel’s show.

Disney, which owns ABC, soon followed suit, saying it would remove the late night talk show “indefinitely.” “Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, said in a statement.
