Puppy rescued after animal attack. Now, the ‘resilient’ little one needs a home
A puppy survived an animal attack — and now, the “resilient” little one needs a new home.
“We have no idea how he wandered to a random street, alone after the attack,” a North Carolina animal shelter wrote Oct. 9 on Facebook. “Thankfully a good Samaritan rushed him to the rescue.”
Pluto the pup lost an eye after he was found along a road earlier this year. He landed at Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (CARA), where workers said they put him in a laundry basket as they brought him to an emergency vet.
“The consensus was that little Pluto at just 4 months old, was savagely attacked by a large animal,” the Sanford-based shelter wrote. “He not only had puncture wounds around his eye socket but various parts of his tiny little body. He was underweight and also had scarring on his back from what the vets believed was a burn. Needless to say, he had been through some major trauma.”
Pluto had a surgery to remove his injured eye and is healing. As of Oct. 10, he was listed among the animals available for adoption at the shelter, a roughly 40-mile drive southwest from Raleigh.
“Even through all that I am a super sweet boy,” the shelter said in an online adoption profile written from Pluto’s perspective. “While the doctors examined me I never stopped giving kisses or wagging my tail.”
Pluto is described as a “happy and resilient” mixed-breed pup who enjoys being around people. He showed off his caring side while living in a foster home.
“Recently his senior foster sister became very ill, and all he wanted to do was watch her to ensure she was going to be okay,” the shelter wrote.
CARA didn’t immediately share additional information with McClatchy News on Oct. 10. Details about the shelter’s adoption process can be found at cara-nc.org.
