Woman disfigured after man ‘willfully’ allows 3 dogs to attack, NC sheriff says

Three dogs attacked and seriously injured a North Carolina woman in her yard, and investigators say the pack’s owner allowed it to happen, according to the Vance County Sheriff’s Office.

The attack involved three free-roaming pit bulls that belong to 31-year-old Quentin Spruill of Henderson, an arrest warrant reports.

Spruill is accused of “knowingly, willfully, and unlawfully” allowing the dogs to enter the woman’s property “and attack her, causing disfigurement to the victim’s body.”

It happened March 7, but an arrest was not made until March 16, the warrant reports.

The victim was a 67-year-old neighbor, and the three dogs tore off part of her ear, WNCN reports.

Spruill is charged with three misdemeanor counts of “penalty for attacks by dangerous dogs,” court records show. The charge is applied in cases where “a dangerous dog” attacks someone and causes injuries that required medical treatment in excess of $100.

Spruill had been “previously cited for failing to properly confine the dogs,” WTVD says.

Henderson is about a 45-mile drive north from downtown Raleigh.
