Teen Domino’s worker was adding his own personal fee to orders, NC police say
A former Domino’s employee is facing a list of felony charges after an investigation revealed the 18-year-old was adding his own fee to food orders, according to investigators in North Carolina.
The extra $10 charge amounted to his idea of a fair tip, and it was added to credit cards without customers’ knowledge, the Aberdeen Police Department reported in court documents.
Store managers summoned police March 13, after suspicions led them to interview customers and review restaurant surveillance video, officials said.
“Officers determined that the employee .... was charging tips to customer’s credit cards that they did not authorize, after they placed orders for food,” police said in a March 18 news release.
Investigators did not reveal how many customers had been victimized.
The suspect, Frederick Cooper, was arrested and charged him with:
- Two counts of felony embezzlement
- Felony larceny by employee
- Felony obtaining property under false pretense
- Felony attempting to obtain property under false pretense
Aberdeen is about a 70-mile drive southwest from downtown Raleigh.
