Four men fighting in road after dark get run over by a car, NC police say
A brawl in the middle of the road came to an abrupt end when all four men were struck by a passing vehicle, according to investigators in North Carolina.
It happened at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Greensboro, and the men’s injuries ranged from minor to serious, the Greensboro Police Department said in a March 24 news release.
“Police responded to a collision with injuries in the 3600 block of Summit Avenue. A preliminary investigation indicates that four men were involved in an altercation in the roadway in a non-crosswalk area when they were struck by a vehicle,” Greensboro police said.
“Three of the men were taken to local hospitals for serious injuries and one was treated at the scene.”
Their identities of the four men and the driver have not been released, and investigators did not provide a motive behind the dispute.
“The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Impairment is not suspected of the driver,” police said. “No injuries were noted by the driver and passenger in the vehicle.”
Maps show the two-lane strip where the fight occurred is largely residential, including a mobile home park.
Greensboro is about a 90-mile drive northeast from uptown Charlotte.
