An emergency call came to an abrupt end for two police officers when they crashed into each other en route to the crime scene, according to investigators in eastern North Carolina.

It happened at 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday in New Bern, about a 115-mile drive southeast from downtown Raleigh.

“Officers with the New Bern Police Department were responding to an emergency complaint near the downtown area. While responding to this incident, two officers collided at the intersection of Pollock Street and Craven Street,” New Bern police officials said in an April 29 news release.

“Both officers sustained minor injuries and were transported to Carolina East Medical Center for evaluation.”

The identities of the officers and details of their injuries were not released.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating what led up to the crash.
