Woman at gas pump sticks hose through truck window, douses driver, NC sheriff says
A convenience store dispute turned potentially deadly when a woman stuck a gas hose through the window of a truck and began spraying the driver, according to investigators in North Carolina.
It happened at the Sharon Express in Statesville, and the man managed to avoid being injured, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a June 30 news release.
“The victim reported that during a verbal altercation in the parking lot, a woman sprayed gasoline on both them and their truck before leaving the scene,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a June 30 Facebook post.
“Deputies interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video, which captured the incident.”
The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Christina Dawn Hatcher of Statesville, and she was eventually found in the Alexander County Detention Center, being held on unrelated charges, officials said.
Hatcher was served warrants for assault with a deadly weapon and damage to property in connection with the June 14 convenience store incident, and given a bond of $10,000, officials said.
Details of a motive were not released, and investigators did not say if the suspect and victim were acquainted.
Statesville is about a 40-mile drive north from uptown Charlotte.
