A North Carolina man is facing accusations that he broke into a neighbor’s home to torment her kitten, according to investigators.

It happened south of Mayodan in the 200 block Ridge Road, and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office did not report what the man had against the cat.

The 66-year-old suspect lives across the street from the woman and her pet, a July 8 arrest warrant reports.

Investigators say the man broke into the home in June, then “unlawfully and willfully did intentionally wound, torment an animal, a black 3-week old kitten.”

Details of the kitten’s injuries were not released.

The man turned himself in and was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering, and misdemeanor cruelty to animals, according to court documents. Bond was set at $2,500, records show.

Mayodan is about a 120-mile drive northeast from uptown Charlotte.
