NC teen charged with cell phone peeping at shopping center

An 18-year-old Youngsville man was arrested Sunday evening at the Gateway Commons Shopping Center on a charge that he used a cell phone to take a picture under the shorts of an 11-year-old girl.

Joshua Mitchell Vorndran of 40 Goshen Lane was arrested by town police about 6 p.m., according to county records.

He was charged with one count of felony secret peeping and released after posting $5,000 bail. He was ordered to appear in court Monday.

Town spokesman Bill Crabtree said two police officers were working off-duty for an event at the Gatehouse Tavern in the shopping center.

A woman told them she had seen Vorndran using an iPhone to take pictures from underneath her daughter’s shorts.

The officers began watching Vorndran and arrested him when they saw him taking more pictures, Crabtree said.

After getting a search warrant for the phone, Crabtree said, the officers looked through Vorndran’s phone and found pictures that supported the charge,
