‘Those numbers look familiar’: After playing for 15 years, SC man hits lottery jackpot

A South Carolina man who had been playing the lottery for almost 15 years finally had his numbers come up, officials said.

The Charleston man, whose name was not released, won $300,000 in the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“Those numbers look familiar,” he said after the drawing last month, according to the lottery.

“We’re not extravagant people,” he told lotto officials. “We want to save for the future.”

He won the money on the Palmetto Cash 5 drawing, according to a press release. He bought the ticket at a Food Lion in Charleston.

“The odds of winning $300,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,606,214,” lottery officials said.
