Myrtle Beach country music festival postponed due to coronavirus. Here are the new details
Myrtle Beach’s largest tourist event will be postponed amid health concerns, urging folks to self-isolate and avoid large crowds to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Carolina Country Music Fest will be postponed to Sept. 17-20, according to the CCMF website. The annual event attracting thousands to Myrtle Beach was scheduled for June 4-7.
All previously purchased tickets and parking passes will still be honored for the rescheduled dates. Tickets are currently non-refundable.
“While we are disappointed that CCMF won’t take place as scheduled this summer, we understand and support the organizer’s decision to postpone in these uncertain times,” said Karen Riordan, Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce said.
The decision comes after 37 cases of COVID-19, coronavirus, were confirmed in Horry County as of Tuesday evening, prompting event closures and calls for quarantining along the Grand Strand. The total cases statewide are 1,083, with 22 deaths, including three reported in Horry County. Country singer Joe Diffie, who was scheduled to perform, also died last week due to coronavirus complications.
The lineup of 30 country bands and artists includes headliners Luke Combs, Darius Rucker, Eric Church and Jake Owen.
While the four headliners are still scheduled to perform in September, Jon Pardi, Mitchell Tenpenny and Maddie & Tae will not be in attendance. Lauren Alaina, Jordan Davis, Joe Nichols, Davisson Brothers Band and Warrick McZeke will take their place, with festival runners alluding to a big surprise announcement.
“We are grateful for the collaboration from all involved who have worked with us tirelessly to reschedule CCMF for September,” said Bob Durkin, president, Carolina Country Music Fest. “Working to move this year’s festival to the fall was uncharted territory for all involved, including artists, their management, local government officials and the Myrtle Beach community. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and we are excited that we will still be able to have CCMF this year.”
The event has become a staple in Myrtle Beach since its inception in 2015, attracting more than 30,000 country music fans who come dressed to party in their cowboy boots and country garb. The annual event is held at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place on Ocean Boulevard between 8th and 9th avenues North.
