Watch a man’s dramatic rescue as his car swept away during raging floods in Charlotte

Video showed the daring rescue of a driver as raging floodwaters carried a car down Briar Creek in east Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon.

A major storm dumped 2.5 inches of rain on Charlotte, causing widespread flooding.

A bridge stopped the car in the water at the Windsor Harbor apartments off Shamrock Drive.

Residents rushed in with a wooden beam and rammed the passenger window until it broke, freeing the driver.

They then pulled him out of the submerged car to safety.

A swift water rescue team was then sent to the apartment community.

No one was reported hurt.
