UPDATE: Be prepared for fire danger in Eastern North Carolina until Monday evening

The NWS Wilmington NC issued an updated weather alert at 3:25 p.m. on Monday for fire danger until 8 p.m. The alert is for Inland Pender, Coastal Pender, Inland New Hanover, Coastal New Hanover, Inland Brunswick and Coastal Brunswick as well as Robeson, Bladen and Columbus counties.
"The combination of dry fuels, low relative humidity, and gusty winds will lead to increased fire danger today. Relative humidity values will drop to 20 to 25%, accompanied by northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph," explains the NWS.
The NWS states, "Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do, you are advised to use extreme caution."
This alert is in effect until 8 p.m.
