The NWS Raleigh NC issued a report at 7:15 p.m. on Friday for fire danger until Saturday at 8 p.m. for Wayne and Sampson counties.
"The combination of low relative humidities around 25-30%, gusty winds around 20 mph, and extremely dry fuels will lead to an increased fire danger both Saturday and Sunday. Dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily ignite and spread fire quickly. People in this area are urged to properly dispose of cigarette butts, matches, and any other flammable items in appropriate containers. Exercise caution if operating any equipment that could create sparks, and keep vehicles off of dry leaves and grass," states the NWS.
This alert is in effect until Saturday at 8 p.m.
