Weather alert announced for fire danger in Eastern North Carolina until Saturday evening

The NWS Wilmington NC issued a report at 7:43 p.m. on Friday for fire danger until Saturday at 8 p.m. The alert is for Inland Pender, Coastal Pender, Inland New Hanover, Coastal New Hanover, Inland Brunswick and Coastal Brunswick as well as Robeson, Bladen and Columbus counties.
"The combination of extremely dry fuels, low relative humidity, and gusty winds will lead to increased fire danger Saturday and Sunday. Relative humidity values will drop to around 25-30% mainly away from the coast, with southwest winds gusting around 20 mph," states the NWS.
The NWS states, "Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do, you are advised to use extreme caution."
This alert is in effect until Saturday at 8 p.m.
