Heat advisory for Eastern North Carolina until Thursday evening

On Thursday at 1:36 a.m. a heat advisory was issued by the NWS Wilmington NC valid between noon and 8 p.m. The advisory is for Inland Pender, Inland New Hanover and Inland Brunswick as well as Robeson, Bladen and Columbus counties.
The NWS informs, "Heat index values up to 107 degrees expected."
"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses," states the NWS.
This advisory is in effect until 8 p.m.

- Recognize warning signs: Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
- Dress comfortably: Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.
For a safer outdoor work environment, follow the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)'s guidance by scheduling regular rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned places. If anyone shows signs of heat illness, promptly move them to a cool, shaded area. In an emergency, call 911.
