Heat advisory for Eastern North Carolina until Thursday evening

A heat advisory was issued by the NWS Wakefield VA on Thursday at 3:05 a.m. valid between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The advisory is for Western Currituck as well as Pasquotank, Camden, Chowan and Perquimans counties.
The NWS informs, "Heat index values of 105 to 109 degrees expected."
"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses," says the NWS.
This advisory is in effect until 7 p.m.

For a safer outdoor work environment, follow the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)'s guidance by scheduling regular rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned places. If anyone shows signs of heat illness, promptly move them to a cool, shaded area. In an emergency, call 911.
