Charlotte region to likely see severe thunderstorms, rainfall & high gusts. See forecast
After a week of mostly dry, windy conditions, the Charlotte area is likely to see thunderstorms and high winds Monday afternoon.
Showers and thunderstorms were to begin rolling into North Carolina from the west in the late morning and afternoon, with Charlotte seeing a chance of them after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures could reach a high of 76 degrees Monday and gusts could reach as high as 25 mph.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 7 p.m. for several areas in the region, including Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Lincoln, and Union counties.
The warning was also issued for Polk, Henderson, and Transylvania counties, where firefighters have been battling wildfires for over a week.
The N.C. Forest Service said rain showers Sunday night helped firefighters combat wildfires, and Monday’s showers and thunderstorms could help them further.
Charlotte forecast
Charlotteans can expect sunny weather on Tuesday and a high of 73 degrees. Wednesday could see rainfall again in the morning and at night, but should see partly cloudy conditions and a high of 75 degrees the rest of the day. Winds could reach as high as 20 mph.
Temperatures will warm up on Thursday and Friday. It will be mostly cloudy on Thursday with a high of 85 degrees, and partly sunny on Friday with a high of 90 degrees.
