Arctic blast blankets NC mountains with snow. Take a look at frigid aftermath

The arctic front delivered on threats of “big time snow” in the North Carolina mountains, where strong gusts of up to 50 mph created blizzard-like conditions.

It was the state’s first taste of winter for the season, leaving as much as a foot of snow atop some peaks. And the snow continued in some areas Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service says.

“Highs about 15-20 degrees below normal. Skies should be sunny, but a noticeable breeze is expected to continue, making it feel colder,” the NWS reported.
