Introducing The Point, a place for center-right opinion
It’s long been important to us that our Opinion pages reflect a diversity of perspectives. We want readers in all our communities to see their views in the content we provide. To that end, we’ve diversified our roster of contributing columnists and op-ed writers, and we’ve launched a Community Advisory Board that brings new worldviews to the front end of editorial board discussions.
Today, we’re launching a new initiative - The Point - a spot for center-right perspectives. The Point will be a gathering place for center-right content that features editorials and columns from our staff along with op-eds and columns from writers in North Carolina and throughout McClatchy. We’ll also feature news and opinion content from national sources. We’ll be expanding that content in the coming months.
You can find The Point at www.charlotteobserver.com/the-point and www.newsobserver.com/the-point. We’ll also be launching a weekly newsletter soon in North Carolina that recaps the center-right Opinion we’ve provided. More details to come on that.
This content isn’t just for conservatives, however. We believe that to fully understand the issues confronting in North Carolina and across the country, we should seek out those who don’t share our opinions. There’s value in challenging what we think we know, and we want all our readers to pursue those perspectives. We hope The Point is a good place to start.
