Our readers had a lot to say about the Border Patrol in Charlotte

We now live in a city where masked, armed government thugs can break your window and throw you to the ground because you “look illegal.” Is this really who we are?! Is this really America?

Silence is complicity.

Charlotte’s Web, the book

It’s ironic that the immigration operation here in Charlotte should be called “Operation Charlotte‘s Web.” Whoever gave it the title, obviously never read the book, which is about tolerance and friendship between all of God’s creatures, whether they live on a spider web or in a pig pen. It’s too bad that all human beings can’t have that same decency.

Voters bear responsibility

The recent CPB actions in Charlotte show that the United States is being pushed towards authoritarian rule by the Trump administration. Random assaults and detentions by armed, masked thugs have taken place outside places of worship and businesses. Taxpayer dollars are paying for these illegal, immoral and wasteful acts, while the enforcement of human trafficking, drug smuggling and other criminal laws is being ignored.

Those who voted for Donald Trump bear some responsibility for this needless oppression. And North Carolina’s Republican congressional representatives bear more.

Heroic agents

The citizens of Charlotte should be thankful for the heroic efforts of federal officers to arrest criminals in the Charlotte’s Web roundup. These actions served to highlight the abysmal failure of our current mayor, city council, sheriff and judicial system to keep our city safe. Unless there are significant shifts in local policies regarding criminal activity, Charlotte will continue down the path of becoming the Murder Capital of the South.

To those who supported this

To anyone who supported or assisted CBP or ICE with on-the-ground intel as to where to look for brown people, know this: the immediate and generational terror you’ve helped cause will result in a greater share of your future tax dollars going to help our society recover. More people will become marginalized. More people will need public assistance. Fewer people will be successful and contribute to the tax base. Way to self-own!

Heart broke for Charlotte

I lived in Charlotte for 20 years. My heart broke watching a wonderful city come under siege for no reason except to perform for the cameras. Arresting people without due process sickened me. A white woman being interviewed stated it was necessary, was happy it was happening. What would she do if ICE tied her/her family up, took her away because she was white. Is the immigration system broken? Yes. Is this the answer? No.

What the people wanted

Democrats and paid protesters are out and about whining and complaining that CBP and ICE finally arrived in Charlotte to do their legal jobs. One has to look no further than their own ranks and leadership to “thank” for the huge problem the federal agencies are here trying to clean up.

Trump campaigned on border security and deportation of those that should not be here, two issues completely falling on Democrat policy and neglect of current laws. The president won the state in three straight elections, the people have spoken.
