Winter storm means no global warming? Here are the facts | Opinion
As we thaw out from yet another record-breaking winter storm, it’s predictable that someone would comment that obviously there is no global warming. Which our President did say. This fallacy is one of the most important lessons I learned reading Bill McKibben’s book Eaarth, written in 2011. With rising temperatures, warmer air holds more water vapor, leading to increased precipitation, be it devastating rainstorms, hurricanes, or even snowstorms.
The weather we are experiencing now was predicted decades ago, and ignored by the very industries that helped fuel it, as the fossil fuel industries own studies in the 1960s attest, and were skillfully suppressed. We need to take climate change more seriously and take action with our voices and our votes to move to cleaner sources of energy, and an improved electricity grid, before the effects are even worse. Even our rising energy bills will benefit.

Minnesota shooting
When masked agents shoot United States citizens dead in public, it’s not a “killing,” a “slaying”, a “shooting” — it’s murder, plain and simple. Call your US representatives and demand that they stop these murders!

Board of Peace
Convinced of his own genius and as tactful as a monsoon, in yet another unseemly attempt to acquire the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump has conjured up his “Board of Peace,” ostensibly as a solution to avoiding international conflicts.
Ironically, one of his first moves as chairman of this iconic body, in a spirit of malice and revenge he disinvited Canada’s Prime Minister, Marc Carney, who upstaged him at the Davos conference by appearing presidential and delivering a speech that hinted at Trumps’ dangerous narcissism and concluded in a rare standing ovation.

Trump’s trumpeting
If President Trump could stop bragging on himself with his every little (OR BIG) accomplishment, the wild behavior in this country would simmer down. He does a lot of good in his enactments toward advancement toward betterment of the US on the world stage, but the ENTIRE US doesn’t constantly need to be reminded of his successes and surely doesn’t want to listen to sleepy and crooked JOE did this and didn’t do that every time Trump gets in front of a microphone.

Allied participation
As a veteran, I was astonished when President Trump, who evaded military service due to “bone spurs,” mindlessly stated that Allied troops in Afghanistan remained a little off the front lines. Such a statement is stupid, ill-advised and far from the truth, an area Trump seems to relish. All Americans should be repulsed, and our politicians with a single voice should reject the statement and offer an apology to the world.

Democrats’ hypocrisy
After the unfortunate death of another Minneapolis protester over illegal immigrants being removed, the past three Democratic presidents - Clinton, Obama and Biden - were quick to stir the pot.
Clinton stated, “the people in charge are lying to the public.” Obama said, “current administration officials seem eager to escalate the situation.” Feeble Biden claimed, “No single person can destroy what America stands for and believes in.” Uh, Joe, have you looked in the mirror lately?
Where do we begin? Clinton certainly knows about lying to the public. Obama’s on record during his terms deporting and protecting millions of illegals. And, then there is Biden. We wouldn’t have most of the problems in the country connected to illegal immigration had he enforced the laws on the books instead of completely ignoring them and just let people walk in.
