Pro-choicers approve of abortion, no matter how you spin it
If you’re pro-choice, own what that means
In response to “‘Pro-choice’ is not ‘pro-abortion’” and “Roy Moore didn’t just make ‘bad choices’” (Nov. 27 Forum):
Let me see if I can get this straight. Anyone who is “pro-choice” when it comes to the life of an unborn child is not favoring abortion or pro-abortion even if they decide to have an abortion.
That position comes across like a bunch of hooey to me.
It really just sounds to me like the pro-choice crowd doesn’t want anyone who disagrees with their position to state what that position can ultimately lead to, which is the death of an innocent unborn child.
May I remind the “pro-choice” crowd that no choice would be needed after the fact if the correct choice had been made regarding procreation beforehand.
My generation calls it responsibility and accountability.

I support Doug Jones’s stance
Thank you Phil Summerville for saying it so well. Pro-choice is not pro-abortion. Women should be able to make our own choices about our bodies. No one, particularly a man, should be able to make choices for us! If I lived in Alabama, I would vote for Douglas Jones on that issue alone. And bully for him for taking a stand on the issue. Most politicians shy away from it.

Johnny Harris is a true pioneer
In response to “Developer Harris reflects on the changes he’s seen as city keeps booming” (Nov. 27):
It was quite refreshing to read your article on Johnny Harris. There are not many honest pioneers who still can envision the past, present and future. Thanks for the story and history lesson.

Colleges don’t prepare kids anymore
Colleges don’t prepare kids anymore
In response to “Education advocates see growing disdain for universities” (Nov. 26):
College campuses no longer teach kids how to think and take care of themselves. They’re not helping them grow intellectually or teaching work-related skills. Instead they coddle them with safe spaces and emotional support animals all the while pumping them full of the liberal agenda.
Parents send their kids to college so they can gain the skills necessary to succeed in the world. That is happening less and less these days. College campuses need more conservative thought (professors, speakers, etc.) so kids can be exposed to both sides of an issue and decide for themselves what they believe.

Government can’t handle health care
In response to “2 wants, 1 solution: Medicare for All” (Nov. 26 Forum):
Forum writer Dr. George Bohmfalk calls for single payer (government) health care. Dr. Bohmfalk, if the federal government were put in charge of the Sahara Desert, as they say, it would run out of sand in five years. I think America, the most innovative country in the world, can find a better solution.

Hoping Trump meets Nixon’s end
Since 1927, the iconic TIME magazine has annually recognized its “Person of the Year.” Donald Trump was the most recent recipient of the award, and is seemingly obsessed with receiving it for a second time in 2017.
I hope he will become only the second person to win in consecutive years when the award is formally announced on December 6. If he does, he will join Richard M. Nixon as the only consecutive two-time winner.
There is a compelling reason why so many of us Americans are pulling for Trump to join Nixon in this elite fraternity. Many of us are hoping and praying that this could be an omen of how the final chapter of both of their presidencies will be written.

Calling on politicians to save net neutrality
Calling on politicians to save net neutrality
I have registered a complaint with Rep. Robert Pittenger, Sen. Thom Tillis and Sen. Richard Burr about the net neutrality repeal. I believe repealing net neutrality will not only hurt American small business, but also our freedom of speech.
It will stifle internet access for the poorer folks and rural communities. It will allow corporations to decide winners and losers instead of allowing the market to decide. Net neutrality is important. Please do not let the FCC take away our internet freedom.
