Kavanaugh hearings show: The left is out to vilify men

This has been an emotional couple of weeks for me and so many others in our country. I am heartbroken and angry over the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. It was like pouring gasoline into a blazing fire; everyone gets hurt.

My heart goes out to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and the countless women in this country who have been sexually assaulted or raped. This is a non-prejudicial issue affecting women without respect to race, religion or party affiliation.

As a women’s leader in Charlotte, I stand strongly in support of all women who live enduring the pain caused by this heinous, horrific sin. In recent months, sexual abuse has been exposed at levels never recorded as women speak up and come forward to tell their stories. I am grateful they have come out of the shadows to expose this sin. My sincere hope is that their offenders receive due process through the judicial system and that guilty parties are punished. I am proud to live in a country where rule of law is foundational — innocent until proven guilty.

The rage we see today in leftist women toward men is frightening. As a wife and mother of three sons, I am compelled to defend our boys and men and to call out what I am confident is an intentional movement to shame and vilify men.

Women on the left portray men, especially white conservative men, as bigoted, racist and misogynistic predators. Not only is this portrayal unfair to the millions of honorable and respectable men of our nation, but it is very dangerous for our society. Unfortunately, I believe it is propelled by the #MeToo movement, a seemingly politically motivated group. The events of last week convinced me that the left intends to do just this — to vilify and shame men.

I specifically call out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who vowed from the beginning to oppose President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, “with everything I’ve got.” Realizing there was no reasonable way to stop Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation, the Democrats resorted to pulling out the “sexual harassment/abuse card.”

I find it shameful the Democrats have set out to destroy Judge Kavanaugh and his family. Equally shameful is how they have used Dr. Blasey Ford, a woman who has clearly suffered immensely, pushing her to confront the nation and the world about her experience. This is not justice for her or for Judge Kavanaugh. While I am confident that Dr. Blasey Ford was indeed assaulted, I have no reason to believe it was at the hands of Judge Kavanaugh. The evidence is just not there.

To satisfy a thirst for power, Democratic politicians will do anything at any cost because they believe the ends justify the means. It is appalling and disgraceful and even scary that so-called leaders like Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein would go to such an extreme.

As a mother who raised three sons to respect women and girls, I would never want my boys to be unjustly accused of any sexual misconduct and have their lives destroyed over mere allegations without evidence.

Where will this lead over the next decade? Will we uphold our judicial foundations of due process and innocent until proven guilty? Or will we allow Democrats to push us over a cultural and legal cliff into total chaos?

Mark my words, that is the direction we are rapidly heading, and it is frightening and dangerous.
