Illuminated Magic with the Carolina Holiday Light Spectacular
Enjoy the magic of the holiday season with the Carolina Holiday Light Spectacular, an immersive, walk-through holiday light experience held at Ballantyne’s Back Yard. Millions of brilliant and colorful lights spark joy through the larger-than-life displays, festive holiday scenes and endless photo-worthy moments.
The event is designed with all ages in mind. Whether you’re looking for a family outing, a romantic night for two, a friendly get-together, or simply to bask in the holiday glow — the Carolina Holiday Light Spectacular will be the perfect way to kick off the holiday cheer.
These holiday displays and themed zones combine creativity, nostalgia, and Carolina charm to create a must-see tradition every year. The walk-through tunnels and illuminated pathways offer unique photo ops designed for families and people wanting to share holiday memories on their social media.
This year, the half-mile walking trail features 40% more light displays and all-new scenes to experience. This includes a glowing walk-through Ice Castle and Princess Carriage. There is also Frosty’s Fun Land with real snow to make the experience complete alongside an illuminated Elf Playground. Santa Claus will also be making nightly appearances through Dec. 23 for photos and to hear those extra-special wishes from good children.
The beautiful lights will be accompanied by festive music, bringing cheer throughout the event.
New this year is the Winter Wonderland Carnival, a winter-wonder delight with four rides to enjoy.
Guests will find the entriely walk-through event easy and accessible, making it perfect fun for the whole family, whether you need a stroller for the little ones or if someone needs a mobility device to keep up with the family.
Ballantyne’s Backyard provides the perfect backdrop for the event, spanning over 100 acres with miles of trails to explore. This community park boasts unparalleled open space and is accessible to everyone. The walkways have also been made more walkable by adding infrastructure connecting walking trails and creating more engaging experiences for the community to enjoy the backyard.
General admission for this experience starts at just $10. The Carolina Holiday Light Spectacular is open nightly through Dec. 30 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Select nights will also feature life-sized snow globes with live performances. The Holiday Village features local boutiques, food trucks, and festival drinks to help you find that perfect gift, keepsake, or just something to fill you up and keep you warm when Jack Frost nips at your nose.
Guests can also purchase an interactive light-up Snowflake Wand to use throughout the Holiday Light Spectacular experience to make the time that much more enchanting. VIP Admission is also available and starts at just $39.
