It’s not hard at all to find things to do on any day or night in Charlotte. In fact, it’s sometimes tough deciding which event to add to the weekend calendar.

Still, with all the museums, music, parks and dining options, there are likely many more things that could contend for a spot on your to-do list if you knew about them. Say for instance, a local golf scramble, a community engagement event or a church cookout.

Now, organizers of all sorts of events can spread the word to a large audience by listing them in The Charlotte Observer’s new Community Marketplace.

And it’s free.

Whether it’s a fishing tournament for kids or a 5K in the neighborhood, you can tell more folks about it, and it’s not hard to do by placing a classified ad on the Community Marketplace portal. You’ll first need to register in order to post your ad or event. From there, the first five lines are free; additional lines cost $1.50 per line/per extra day.

Follow your grade school writing guidance here: List who, what, when and where, and if there’s a little extra room, include the why.

In addition to listing (and finding) events, when you come to the Community Marketplace you will see a host of classifieds that you were accustomed to browsing in the newspaper. People are selling Goldendoodles and dumbbells, recliners and cars.

Looking for a church? There’s a church directory, as well as a host of obituaries.

The portal is easy to navigate. It brings the Observer closer to its readers, too, providing a service that so many have asked for and expect from their local news organization.

Did we mention that it’s free to place an ad? A deal doesn’t get any better.
