Sportscaster Ernie Johnson paid tribute to the late Stuart Scott on Tuesday, presenting his Emmy award to the longtime ESPN anchor’s daughters.

Johnson, who hosts ‘Inside the NBA’ on TNT, was honored as outstanding studio host. During his acceptance speech, he thank ESPN for a recent E:60 profile about Johnson and his family, which includes four adopted children. “We were blown away by that,” Johnson said.

He then reached over to touch the Emmy trophy.

“There’s only one place (this award) belongs, ” Johnson said, “and that’s on the mantel at Stuart Scott’s house.”

Johnson invited Scott’s daughters, Taelor and Sydni, to the stage to a standing ovation from the crowd.

Scott, a longtime anchor of ESPN’s SportsCenter, died in January after a long fight with cancer. Johnson, who has also battled cancer, recalled that he and Scott would text back and forth.

“I would just tell him ... ‘You may have cancer but it doesn’t have you. And you just fight and you just lean in on people who love you.”

“We love Stuart Scott. This is your Emmy.”
