Stars of sports align in Charlotte
It’s a good week to be a sports fan in Charlotte. A delay in the Quail Hollow golf tournament means some of the top names from three sports – NASCAR, PGA Golf and professional swimming – will converge at the same time in separate events.
Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow
Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy headline a strong field for Quail Hollow, which is typically seen as a tune-up for the U.S. Open.

NASCAR’s All-Star Race, Charlotte Motor Speedway
NASCAR’s biggest stars will race under the lights Saturday. The race features the return of Kyle Busch, who’s been out since the start of the season with a broken leg.

Arena Pro Swim Series
Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, and his chief rival, Ryan Lochte, who holds 11 Olympic medals of his own, are among the 600 professional swimmers competing in Charlotte this weekend.
