One of fastest rising national high school basketball recruits is from Charlotte
West Charlotte High's Patrick Williams is one of the fastest risers in the latest rivals.com national rankings for boys basketball players in the class of 2019.
Williams, a 6-foot-8 forward has jumped 13 spots in the top 150 rankings, moving to No. 61. Williams has 20 college scholarship offers, including from Arizona, Charlotte, Clemson, Florida, Louisville and N.C. State.
Williams averaged 20.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.8 steals per game as a junior for West Charlotte last season. Williams is playing summer basketball from Team United, which plays on the Nike-sponsored EYBL (Elite Youth Basketball League) summer circuit.
▪ The top N.C. player in the class is Arden Christ School point guard Jalen Lecque, 6-foot-4. Lecque is No. 18. That's seven spots ahead of Concord Cox Mill's Wendell Moore (No. 25). Fayetteville Trinity Christian 6-8 power forward Greg Gantt is No. 54. North Meck's Jae'Lyn Withers, a 6-8 power forward, is No. 72.
Fayetteville Northwood Temple 6-4 shooting guard Josh Nickelberry, a Louisville recruit, is No. 81.
