PGA golfer Phil Mickelson told Golf Magazine that he and Tiger Woods are planning to play a $10 million winner-take-all match on a major television network.

In fact, the match almost took place July 3, Mickelson said, but the details couldn't be worked out in time.

"We're working on a different date," Mickelson told Golf.com's Alan Shipnuck on Thursday. "I thought it was done for the 3rd but obviously it wasn't."

Woods's representatives declined to comment.

In April, the two former rivals turned friends played a practice round at the Masters that drew a lot of attention -- and a lot of fans. Later, at the Players Championship, the two played together and drew heavy, heavy crowds.

That got Mickelson to thinking about the special match.

In the made-for-TV match, both players would reportedly be wired with live microphones.

If social media is any indication, this match would be a big win. Tiger and Phil were both trending Friday morning.
