The professional women’s golf tour’s annual stop in Davidson is among the latest events affected by the COVID-19 virus.
The Symetra Tour, which earlier had postponed events scheduled for late March and April, scrubbed five more tournaments Thursday. Among them was the Symetra Classic in Davidson. That event had been set for May 13-15 at River Run Country Club.
Symetra Tour officials said they are working with tournament sponsors to reschedule the event for later in the year.
The Symetra Tour is a qualifying-level competition for the LPGA Tour.
Defending champion of the Symetra Classic in Davidson is Ireland’s Leona Maguire, who played college golf at Duke.
