Guard Luke Frampton not returning to Davidson’s basketball team
Guard Luke Frampton won’t return to Davidson’s basketball program, Wildcats coach Bob McKillop confirmed to the Observer on Monday.
Frampton, who led the Atlantic 10 in 3-point shooting as a freshman during the 2018-19 season, took a personal leave of absence last November, returning home to Poca, W.Va.
“We will miss Luke dearly,” McKillop said of Frampton, who described the reasons for Frampton’s leaving as “personal in nature.”
Frampton averaged 9.8 points and made and 48.3 percent of his 3-point shots in the five games he played as a sophomore. He had a major impact as a redshirt freshman, leading the Atlantic 10 in 3-pointers made (100) and 3-pointers per game (2.9). He missed his true freshman season with a knee injury.
Only one other Davidson player has made as many as 100 3-pointers in a single season: Stephen Curry.
