The Charlotte Knights plan to induct former outfielder and current Rochester Red Wings coach Billy McMillon to the Charlotte Baseball Round Table of Honor on Thursday. The ceremony will take place before the Knights’ 7:04 p.m. home game at Truist Field against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

McMillon had been selected for the Round Table of Honor in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the team to postpone the ceremony.

The International League Hall of Famer played two stellar seasons for the Knights in 1996 and 1997, winning Rookie of the Year with a .352 batting average with 17 home runs in 1996. He returned for a second year and hit eight home runs in 57 games.

McMillon became a member of the “All Knights Stadium Team” in 2013.

The Knights embark on a six-game home series against the IronPigs beginning Tuesday. Charlotte is coming off a 2-4 series against the Gwinnett Stripers last week.

They’ll start this series without Eloy Jimenez, who made his return to the majors July 6 against the Minnesota Twins. In his first game back, he went 2 for 5 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. It’s his first game with the Chicago White Sox since April 23, when he suffered a right hamstring strain.

Jimmy Lambert also departed the Knights for the majors, taking a 9.24 ERA in 12 ⅔ Triple-A innings. The 27-year-old has pitched 2 ⅔ scoreless innings since his call-up to Chicago on July 6.

Mike Wright Jr. returned to the Knights on July 4 after a stint on the injured list that started June 18. The pitcher allowed three runs in his Independence Day return but rebounded with two scoreless innings July 10 as the Knights shut out a team for the first time this year in their 1-0 victory.

KNIGHTS-IRONPIGS SERIES AT A GLANCE

Lehigh Valley (45-39) is tied for the International League East lead after splitting a six-game set with the Red Wings. This series will be the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate’s first chance to match up with Charlotte (31-53) this year.

Ironpigs player to watch: OF Mickey Moniak

While the 2016 No. 1 overall pick hasn’t met expectations at the big-league level for the Phillies, he’s been dominant at Triple-A.

Moniak has played just 11 games, but he’s bashed three home runs and has a scorching .957 OPS.

Charlotte Knights Players to Watch

Adam Haseley, OF

The Knights lineup returned a familiar face in Adam Haseley, who came back down after a two-week stint with Chicago. Haseley appeared in six games for the White Sox, getting three hits in 10 at-bats.

In his five games since returning to Charlotte, he’s 4 of 16 with a home run.

Hunter Schryver, LHP

The 27-year-old left-hander sports a 2.42 ERA in 22 ⅓ innings, by far the most effective reliever the team has had.

He appeared in the Knights’ 4-2 win over the Stripers on July 6 with a scoreless inning, striking out two batters.

Davis Martin, RHP

Martin started that July 6 game, pitching four scoreless innings to begin the contest. He struck out seven, as the 25-year-old lowered his ERA to 4.01 in his seven starts.
