Are you ready for some Black Friday football? NFL to hold post-Thanksgiving game in ’23
For the first time ever, NFL fans will be able to watch a game on Black Friday next season.
The post-Thanksgiving game is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 24, 2023 at 3 p.m. and will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, the NFL announced Tuesday. Participating teams will be revealed when the 2023 schedule is released.
The announcement comes after Amazon Prime Video bought the rights to Thursday Night Football as part of an 11-year deal valued at more than $100 billion, CNN reported.
“Thanksgiving is synonymous with football and we’re excited to give our fans another day of NFL action during this holiday weekend,” Hans Schroeder, chief operating officer for NFL Media, said in a statement. “Amazon is uniquely positioned to partner with us for this game as Black Friday is one of the most important days of the year for their business.”
Through its first five weeks on Amazon Prime Video, Thursday Night Football has racked up an average of 10.8 million viewers per game, according to the NFL.
Amazon Prime Video subscriptions cost $14.99 per month. Free 30-day trials are available for new members, and discounts are available for students and individuals who receive government assistance.
Subscribers can stream Thursday Night Football games on amazon.com, or on the Prime Video app.
