Browns Could Pair Shedeur Sanders With ‘Explosive' WR in NFL Draft

After another losing season and missing the postseason, the Cleveland Browns are looking to boost their roster further to help out Shedeur Sanders or whoever else is playing quarterback.

The team made several key moves this offseason by re-signing tight end Jack Stoll and wide receiver Tylan Wallace. They hold the No. 6 and No. 24 picks in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft.

That provides them with an opportunity to select some future talent at the wide receiver position. Based on the variety of NFL mock drafts, there are several names potentially on Cleveland’s radar for the first round.

However, recent speculation centers on a talented receiver who missed games during his college football season due to injury but has since shown he offers “high upside” in a private workout.

Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson is coming off that private workout for NFL teams yesterday, and during that time, he showed he had fully recovered from last season's hamstring injury. One of the 20 teams that was present for his workout was the Cleveland Browns.

According to ESPN's Thamel, a source at the workout said of Tyson, "He showed the twitch, explosiveness and leaping ability we all saw in the fall. He showed he's healthy and still explosive, which is all he needed to do."

Tyson had 61 catches for 711 yards and eight touchdowns in his nine games for Arizona State.

However, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler suggested that Tyson could slip off the draft board in the top 10. That's also where another talented WR, Ohio State's Carnell Tate, could potentially land, depending on what teams do with their picks.

“The questions have been about the durability. Is he going to be available for you after missing time for multiple years with the Sun Devils. But teams I’ve talked to just have him too highly rated. I’ve talked to some receiver coaches in the league who believe he might be the best in the class. We mentioned the Commanders, Saints at eight, Chiefs at nine. There’s just so many needs at that position in that top 10,” Fowler said on “SportsCenter.”

With their No. 6 pick, many mock drafts project the Browns to take an offensive tackle, such as Miami’s Francis Mauigoa. However, ESPN said the Browns’ pick is considered a “hot spot” on the board, and they could trade out of that position to take an offensive linemen later in the draft.

If the Browns stay at sixth overall and take an OT, it could indicate they didn’t feel Tyson warrants using that pick on a receiver. Since Cleveland also has the No. 24 pick, it would seem they’d need to make a trade to move up in the order if they really want the former Sun Devils player on their roster.
