NFL Fans Praise NBC For 'Wonderful' Sunday Night Football Changes

NBC's "Sunday Night Football" is officially making a lot of changes for 2026.

The premier NFL game of the week will still be announced by Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth. However, just about everything surrounding them is changing. Tony Dungy and Chris Simms are gone from the pregame show. Mike Tomlin is being added. Meanwhile, the pregame show will be hitting the road for every game of the season.

Tomlin is the biggest addition, which fans are happy about.

"I just thought it would be a great way to stay connected to the game and the awesome people in it. Players, coaches, executives. Excited about doing that on Sunday night, and traveling to different venues, and getting that feel for the environment. And lastly, I just thought it would be awesome to share insight with fellow football lovers. I love to talk football," he said.

NBC's pregame show will be taking a "College GameDay" approach, hitting the road for each week.

NFL fans seem to be excited by the changes.

Fans have flocked to social media to praise NBC for making some widespread changes to its "Sunday Night Football" coverage for 2026.

NFL fans praise NBC for added changes

Fans had grown tired of the Tony Dungy and Chris Simms types on the show. They are excited for further changes.

"This is such wonderful news. Hopefully he never finds another job with the NFL," one fan said of Simms.

"Tomlin in Simms out !! Can actually watch this show next year," one added.

"This show had stunk from day one. Crazy they have shuffled the deck so many times and still can't figure it out," one fan added.

"Progress but they really needed to blow up FNA and start over, with Tomlin as the first hire," one fan shared.

"That whole team needed a face lift. Maria was fighting for her life trying carry them," one fan added.
