Brewers Announce Jackson Chourio Injury Update Before Diamondbacks Game
The Milwaukee Brewers finished their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 5-0 win, though they went 1-2. This puts an end to their hot streak, in which they were 8-2 in the first 10 games of the season. Now sitting as the fifth seed in a competitive National League Central division.
They are finally getting an update on outfielder Jackson Chourio after he has missed 27 games. It appears Chourio and first baseman Andrew Vaughn will each begin a rehab assignment on Wednesday (h/t Adam McCalvy of MLB.com).
Vaughn is recovering following hamate bone surgery after suffering the injury earlier this season, while outfielder Chourio is recovering from a fractured bone at the base of his left middle finger (third metacarpal), sustained on March 4, 2026, when he was hit by a pitch during a WBC exhibition game.

Their returns are imminent and come at a crucial time, as the team has been managing other injuries, including to left fielder Christian Yelich, helping solidify its standing in the National League Central.
Chourio has shown he is a reliable, high-ceiling young outfielder; during his 2025 campaign, he posted a .270 batting average, .308 on-base percentage, and .770 OPS, along with 21 home runs, 78 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases over 131 games.
Vaughn, who struggled in his season with the Chicago White Sox in 2025, later joined the Brewers and broke out, posting a .308 batting average, .375 on-base percentage, and .869 OPS with nine home runs and 46 RBIs in 64 games.
Both Chourio and Vaughn have developed into premier major league hitters. Chourio, a power-speed threat, shows impressive raw power for his age and is a strong, athletic defender in the outfield. Vaughn brings elite bat-to-ball skills, natural power, and an improved, disciplined approach at the plate.
Chourio was signed as an international free agent by the Brewers in 2021 and made his debut in 2024. He agreed to an eight-year, $82 million contract extension in December 2023, covering the 2024-31 seasons.
Vaughn was selected by the Chicago White Sox with the third overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft out of California. He debuted in 2021 and was traded to Milwaukee during the 2025 season. He later signed a one-year, $7.65 million deal for 2026 to avoid arbitration.
Together, they project as long-term cornerstones, providing offensive production and defensive stability for the Brewers.
