Broncos Fans Worried About Bo Nix's Status For 2026 Season
We're still several months away from the start of the 2026 season, but Denver Broncos fans are already panicking about Bo Nix's status for Week 1.
Nix finished his second season in Denver with 3,931 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Although he was inconsistent at times, he saved his best game for the divisional round of the playoffs. The former first-round pick from Oregon had 279 passing yards, 29 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills. Unfortunately, he suffered a fractured right ankle on the final drive of the game.
Roughly three weeks ago, Jordan Schultz reported that Nix would be a "full go" for Denver's offseason training program.
"Not only is Broncos QB Bo Nix a full go for the team's offseason program with zero limitations, fully recovered from ankle surgery-he's actually further along than he typically is in his offseason conditioning program, per sources," Schultz wrote. "Some very good news for the Broncos with their franchise QB."
The latest report on Nix's injury is far more concerning. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the starting quarterback for the Broncos had a clean-up procedure on his ankle this month.
"For Broncos QB Bo Nix, having a follow-up cleanup procedure after a fractured ankle is not rare or unexpected and he's still expected to be ready for the season," Rapoport said. "That said, don't be surprised if the team takes it very easy with him this spring."
Time to hit the panic button?
Rapoport said it's not unexpected, but Nix's clean-up procedure has fans in the Mile High City on the edge.
"Might not be rare to have a follow up surgery but definitely isn't ideal… Sound like PR management terms to me..," one person said.
"This situation seems fishy," one fan replied.
"I wouldn't be concerned if it felt like anyone was on the same page about the injury… has smelled fishy since Bo and Sean said opposite things at the end of the season," a Broncos fan said.
"Nix update the same day the Steelers place the UFA tender on Rodgers," another fan commented.
If Nix is unavailable for Week 1, the Broncos may have to lean on Jarrett Stidham yet again.
