Father-son duo win Sportsman races; Danny Bohn claims Kevin Powell Motorsports 100

Father's Day doesn't come until the middle of June, but Billy Gregg won't soon forget what he and his son, Nate, pulled off on Saturday night at Bowman Gray Stadium.

In the Sportsman Division, which ran two 20-lap races, it was a "Gregg Sandwich," with both picking up victories in front of around 12,000 fans.

"I might retire now," Billy said after he won the second race. "It probably won't ever be better than it was tonight."

Nate Gregg won the first race, withstanding several restarts and in his speech in victory lane talked a little trash to his father.

"I think I'm doing better than dad in this division," Nate said.

Obviously, Billy heard that, and he used his experience and ability to win the second 20-lap Sportsman race.

Also picking up wins on Saturday was Danny Bohn, who withstood nine cautions to win the Kevin Powell Motorsports 100. It was Bohn's 20th career Modified win and he had to withstand at least four bumps from behind from Junior Snow.

"You can see my bumper, and there's not anything left," Snow said. "We just couldn't get that push around Danny when we needed it."

Bohn stayed in front even though it appeared that Snow had the faster car by the end of the race.

Something to look for next weekend is how Mike Speeney and the Myers family (Burt, Jason and Slate) get along. Slate got tangled up with Speeney in an eight-car pileup on lap 85. It ended the night for Slate, but Speeney went on to finish fourth behind Burt.

Snow and Burt had big nights because they started in the back of the field taking the Fan's Challenge and finished in the top four, so they split $3,000. Both were exceptional in driving around the carnage of the multiple wrecks.

Brad Lewis won the 20-lap Street Stock race with Chase Murphy second and Kyler Staley third.

Luke Smith and Brendon Brendle won the two 15-lap Stadium Stock races.
