Iredell teams prep for baseball, softball NCHSAA state playoffs

The N.C. High School Athletic Association released playoff brackets for the baseball and softball state playoffs on Monday.

South Iredell's softball team, winner of the North Piedmont 6A/7A Conference regular-season and tournament titles, drew the highest seed among all Iredell playoff qualifiers. The Vikings (19-6) are seeded No. 2 in the 7A West, behind only top seed Weddington.

The opening round of the playoffs are Tuesday. Second-round games will be played Friday.
