Caitlin Clark Names Dream NBA Opponent for 1v1 Showdown

Caitlin Clark will return to the court for her first regular-season WNBA action in months when the Indiana Fever face off against the Dallas Wings in their season opener on Saturday.

In anticipation of this season-opening matchup, Clark sat down for an exclusive interview with ESPN reporter Malika Andrews.

Clark answered a variety of questions, including this one:

"If you could play 1 on 1 with anybody, current not current, who would it be? NBA, WNBA," Andrews asked.

Clark ultimately picked an NBA player with a similar play style: Stephen Curry.

"Well I would get killed by every NBA player, but Steph Curry,” Clark replied.

Curry is widely considered the greatest three-point shooter of all time. That being said, Clark broke Curry’s all-time NCAA Division I record for three pointers in a single season. In her senior season with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Clark made 201 three pointers - soaring past Curry’s previous mark of 162.

Just before Clark broke his college record, Curry talked about his respect for the Iowa sharpshooter.

“Her release time is pretty much identical to mine. And her confidence, you can’t help but watch when she plays,” Curry said in 2024. “Where she’s shooting from, the range, the confidence, the flair. She’s a performer. … She’s kinda the total package.”

Saturday’s matchup between the Fever and Wings will tipoff at 1 p.m. ET.
