John Schneider Sends Message After Blue Jays' Loss to Yankees
The Toronto Blue Jays fought a tough battle on Tuesday against the New York Yankees, falling for the second consecutive night to their American League East rivals. Tuesday's defeat was another one-run loss, as manager John Schneider and Toronto fell 5-4.
Dylan Cease started on the mound for the Blue Jays, allowing five earned runs over five innings of work, while striking out nine batters and walking four. On the offensive side, Daulton Varsho had a phenomenal night at the plate, going 4-for-5, while star first basemanVladimir Guerrero Jr. drove in one of Toronto's four runs.
Tuesday's loss was very similar to the night before, as the Blue Jays were beaten by one run for the second straight contest to begin the four-game series against the Yankees.
After Tuesday's defeat, Schneider pointed out the similarities between the Blue Jays' past two losses to the Yankees, saying that the games ended in comparable ways.
"It was eerily similar, same guys coming up and stuff like that," Schneider said, per The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. "It seems like we're just one hit away or one play away right now."

Schneider's words of similarity between the first two games of the series could not be truer. On Monday, Toronto had two men on base in the ninth inning but weren't able to bring home the tying or go-ahead runs. In Tuesday's game, the Blue Jays had the tying run on third base in the ninth before Kazuma Okamoto grounded out to end the game.
With Toronto being just one hit or play away from winning games, according to Schneider, the Blue Jays will try to get back into the series on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. First pitch on Wednesday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
