Timothée Chalamet Goes Viral After Knicks' Historic Comeback

Nothing, not even a date night with Kylie Jenner at the Met Gala, comes between Timothée Chalamet and the New York Knicks.

So, when the Knicks trailed the Cleveland Cavaliers at halftime of Game 1 in the Eastern Conference Finals, Chalamet kept the faith. Someone approached the four-time Oscar-nominated actor in the annals of Madison Square Garden and asked him how he felt about the Knicks’ performance thus far.

“Feeling good,” Chalamet said in a video posted by “SportsCenter” on X. “We’re a little rusty, a little rusty. We’ll get there.”

Everything Chalamet does, especially regarding the Knicks, goes viral to some extent. This clip had a second wind because of what happened in the fourth quarter.

The Cavaliers held a 93-71 lead with just under eight minutes remaining in regulation. Then, Knicks All-Star guard Jalen Brunson took over - getting James Harden to switch into nine isolations - and the Knicks came all the way back to tie at 101 with 19.3 seconds left.

In overtime, it was all Knicks, as they won 115-104 to complete the largest playoff comeback in franchise history, per the NBA.

NBA pundit Nate Duncan put it into context on X, as excerpted below:

“We’ve seen playoff collapses late in games that resulted from weird turnovers in special situations. This is probably the worst collapse ever in terms of just suddenly getting destroyed in every aspect of the game. It was 37-8 over 21 possessions.

New York did not have a single transition point in the 4th quarter. They just destroyed the Cavs in the halfcourt over and over. Can’t remember another comeback like this.”

The Knicks have now won eight straight playoff games, dating back to the final three games of their first-round series win over Atlanta. New York swept the Philadelphia 76ers with ease in the Eastern Conference semifinals to reach the Eastern Conference Finals for a second straight year.

The Cavaliers had both of their series against Toronto and Detroit go to a Game 7. Now, they have to put this disaster behind them, which doesn’t seem humanly possible, before Game 2 back at the Garden on Thursday.
