West Forsyth wins Game 1 against Providence in 8-A softball regional final
The West Forsyth softball team beat Charlotte Providence 5-2 on Tuesday in the first game of the best-of-3 regional series in the NCHSAA 8-A state tournament.
The Titans, who trailed 1-0 going into the seventh inning, scored five runs in the final inning to pick up the win.
Game 2 will be held at West Forsyth on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was moved up because of forecasted rain on Thursday.
West Forsyth will punch its ticket to the 8-A state championship series with a win Tuesday. If Providence wins, it would force a Game 3, which is scheduled for Friday in Charlotte.
